The Association (CSA) originated in 1902 and is the only National Association in the UK for Debt Recovery Agencies, Tracing and Allied Professional Credit Services.

In June 2004, the CSA launched a special section of the Association dedicated to debt buying and selling, the Debt Buyers & Sellers Group (DBSG).
